What does home shifting with us include?

Moving to the next locality involves the same basic work as moving to another state. What changes is mostly how long the truck spends on the road. Here's what we do:

• Packing in 4 layers, with each item packed for its shape, size and how fragile it is
• Careful loading and transport to your new home
• Unloading, unpacking and putting things where you want them
• Car and bike transport, if you add them to the move
• Short or long-term storage when the new home isn't ready

Our own trained staff do all of it. We don't bring in outsourced labour, and your move manager stays your single point of contact from the survey right through to delivery.

The order we work in

1. Survey. A field officer visits, lists your belongings and helps you decide what can and can't be moved. There's no charge for it.
2. Quote. You get a clear written quote before you book.
3. Plan. Your move manager confirms the dates, packing materials and team.
4. Packing and loading. Our staff pack, label and load everything.
5. Delivery. Goods are unloaded, unpacked and set out room by room.

Before the team leaves on delivery day, check your goods against the inventory.

Looking after crockery, glass and good furniture

Along with electronics, these are the things most likely to get damaged in a house move. So on top of 4-layer packing, we use packing tools we developed ourselves. The Perfect Box has a shock-absorbent structure that takes the jerks and bumps instead of your dinner set. The Fabric Sheet is a reusable wrap made specially for furniture. If you'd like extra security, the Trucking Cube lets you put your own lock on the container and hold on to the keys.

Accidents and natural disasters can't be ruled out completely, so transit insurance is available as an option on every move.

Is a local shift very different from an intercity one?

Not much, apart from time. A local shift within the city usually takes a day or two from packing to unpacking. An intercity move takes longer because of transit, and packing and loading need extra care for the long road. The survey, written quote and packing standards stay exactly the same. In the weeks before the move, go through your things and give away what you don't use. Fewer items means less volume, and that brings the cost down. Finish up perishable food, and empty and defrost the fridge the day before. Pack one bag for your first day in the new house with clothes, medicines, chargers and documents. And let your bank, gas agency and other service providers know the new address.
