Village lanes, flats and the beach belt

Goa looks small, but no two moves here are quite alike. Flats in Panaji, Porvorim, Margao and Vasco usually have a lift and some parking. Old Goan houses in Aldona, Assagao, Siolim or Benaulim are another matter, often down a lane just wide enough for a car, between laterite compound walls, with branches hanging low over the road. For those we bring a smaller vehicle or carry things to where the big truck can stand. The surveyor checks the lane, the gate and the turning space during the free pre-move survey.

From December to early January, Calangute, Candolim and Baga fill up with tourists and the roads crawl. If you live in that belt, go for an early start or a date outside the holiday rush. Crossing the Mandovi or the Zuari at office hours costs time too.

Should you move during the Goa monsoon?

If you can avoid it, do. From June to September the rain is heavy and steady, and ghat roads towards Karnataka, like Chorla and Anmod, see landslides and slow traffic. Moves still happen in the monsoon, and when they do, every carton, mattress and piece of furniture gets waterproof wrapping, loading happens between showers and the date stays flexible. November to May is much easier.

Sea air is the other thing. Near the coast it's salty and humid all year, so steel, electronics and tools are packed dry and sealed. Older homes often have carved wooden furniture, heirloom crockery and religious statues. Our own trained crew packs those separately, with the crockery going into our Perfect Box cartons and the furniture under our Fabric Sheet.

Second homes, scooters and storage

A lot of moves in Goa aren't a straight A to B. Someone is closing a holiday flat, handing back a rental before leaving the state, or coming down from Mumbai, Pune or Bengaluru in stages. We can pack, store and deliver later as one plan, with one move manager. If the new place isn't ready, your goods can wait in our warehouse. And if you're handing back a rented villa, take photos of each room once we've cleared it. It makes the deposit conversation with the owner much shorter.

Scooters are part of life here, and plenty of people take theirs along. It travels on our Bike Stand, which holds both tyres so it stays upright on the ghat; see bike transport. Cars go on a car carrier. We also move offices and shops in Panaji, Margao and Porvorim, and units in the Verna industrial estate.

How far is Goa from Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru by road?

Pune is about 480 km and Mumbai about 540 km, and both take 2–3 days. Bengaluru (about 600 km) and Hyderabad (about 680 km) are also 2–3 days. Delhi is about 1,730 km and takes 5–7 days.
